Srinagar:
In Jammu and Kashmir, Masarat Alam has been appointed as the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
The announcement is made by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a meeting on Tuesday in Srinagar.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference announced Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar would be vice-chairmen while Moulvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani will continue to work as General Secretary of the amalgam.
The APHC leaders paid rich tributes to the veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani and vowed to continue his mission.
Before today’s announcement of declaring him as the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Bhat was serving as General Secretary of APHC.
He has been jailed for 17 years and has around 27 cases against him. Currently, he is lodged in Kot Balwal Jail Jammu.
