Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said that her Sister Rubaiya Sayeed did her duty as per the law to identify Yasin Malik in her abduction case as identifying a prominent face like Yasin Malik was easy for her.
On Friday, Sayeed identified JKLF chief Yasin Malik and three others as her abductors when she appeared before a special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court in a case related to her abduction in 1989.
“Rubaiya was called as a witness to identify someone in the case and she could not have refused it,” Ms. Mufti said.
“Since it was easy to identify Yasin Malik as he has been in the public domain for a long time, it was easy for her to identify Yasin Malik,” she said.
She said that Rubaiya could not identify the other people, as 32 years is a long time. “She only did her duty as per the law as she was asked to identify someone,” she said.
She said that dialogue is the only way forward and must be initiated with all the stakeholders to resolve the Kashmir issue.
“This bloodshed needs to be stopped, we cannot resolve anything through violence and gun,” she said.
She also said that the Kashmir issue is the biggest issue than the restoration of Article 370 and they (PDP) will continue its fight for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.
“We cannot expect anything from the Supreme Court, as it has failed to hold a single hearing of the case related to abrogation of Article 370 in the last 3 years,” she added.
