Day-Old Militant, OGW Held In North Kashmir’s Pattan

Pattan: Jammu and Kashmir Police said that a militant who had gone active a day ago along with an OGW (Over ground worker) were arrested in north Kashmir’s Pattan area on Satuday.

Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint checkpoint was established at Tappar Payeen village of Pattan in Baramulla. During the operation, Mohammed Yaseen Shah, a militant who had recently gone missing from his home in Baramulla on September 21 to join the ranks of TRF, was apprehended, A Police official said.

“Alongside him, authorities seized a cache of arms and ammunition, including a pistol, one pistol magazine, and eight live rounds.”

Further investigation and questioning of Yaseen Shah led to the revelation of his associate, Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, son of Ali Mohd and a resident of Takiya Wagoora, he said.

“A raid at Parvaiz's residence resulted in the recovery of two hand grenades and his subsequent arrest,” he added.

Police officials have stated that the investigation is still in its initial stages, and more arrests and recoveries are anticipated as the probe progresses.

As per police, the duo was allegedly operating under the directives of handlers based in Pakistan. Their purported mission was to recruit more individuals and execute terrorist activities not only in Baramulla but also in adjacent areas.
