The Palestinian authorities have found fourth mass grave at the courtyard of Nasser Hospital within the past 12 days with at least 17 more bodies being recovered on Tuesday, bringing the total so far to 310.
According to reports, civil defence crews recover at least 17 more bodies from the fourth mass grave with most of retrieved bodies found inside plastic bags and largely decomposed.
Their identities are lost. Their families were unable to identify the bodies of their children or other relatives, whom they have been searching for over the past 70 days, reports said.
Meanwhile, the UN human rights chief has called for an ‘independent and transparent inquiry’ after the mass graves were found at the hospitals in Gaza.
United Nations human rights chief, Volker Turk said that he is “horrified” by the reports of mass graves found in and around the hospitals.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Turk said: “Given the prevailing climate of impunity, this should include international investigators.”
“Hospitals are entitled to special protection under international humanitarian law, the intentional killing of civilians and detainees is a war crime,” he added.
