Defense Ministry Approves Four New NCC Units in J&K, Kargil

Srinagar: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal to set up four new NCC units in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, aiming to expand the presence of NCC in these regions.

The approval includes one Mixed (Boys & Girls) Army Battalion each at Udhampur (J&K), Kupwara (North Kashmir) and Kargil (Ladakh), and one Air Squadron at Udhampur (J&K), as per an official statement.

The Defence Ministry stated: “The decision is poised to create more avenues for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to actively participate in the NCC, contributing to their holistic development.

“The NCC, with its focus on character building, leadership, and social responsibility, has proven to be a transformative force in the lives of countless young individuals across the country,” it reads.

The NCC is a voluntary organization that operates under the Ministry of Defence providing military training to the youth.
