Uttar Pradesh: Approximately 18 students studying at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, were deemed qualified after writing 'Jai Shri Ram' (Hail Lord Ram) instead of answers, while two professors are under scrutiny.
According to reports, a re-evaluation was undertaken following an RTI query filed by two student leaders with Vice-chancellor Vandana Singh ‘dismissing’ the two professors — Vinay Varma and Ashish Gupta — after the incident came to light.
A team set up by the university administration found a stark disparity in marks after the papers were re-evaluated by external professors.
The duo (student leaders) had also filed a complaint in the Raj Bhavan with the Governor's office ‘ordering an investigation’ into the matter in late December last year.
