Srinagar: In response to the unprecedented absence of snowfall during Chillai Kalan in Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, the Chief Clerk and President of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), has issued a directive urging all Mosque Preachers to organize Salat-Ul-Istisqa, a special prayer for a wet spell, aiming to seek mercy from the almighty to alleviate the dry weather conditions gripping the region.

According to an official notice from MMU, all imams of masjids, heads of religious institutions, and the general public have been instructed to conduct 'Namaz-e-Istisqa' on Friday.

“The faithful are encouraged to pray individually and collectively and ask Almighty Allah for a wet spell to bring relief from the persistently dry winter,” it said.

As part of these efforts, a special Namaz-e-Istisqa will be held at the Historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar on the upcoming Friday, as stated in the official notice.

It is pertinent to mention that the Kashmir Valley is experiencing an unusual lack of snowfall during Chillai Kalan, resulting in open mountainous highways, including Zojila, Sinthan, Gurez, and Mughal roads.

The absence of snowfall during this critical period has raised concerns about its potential impact on various sectors, prompting religious leaders like Mirwaiz Umer Farooq to call for divine intervention through collective prayers.
