Srinagar: The ‘anti-encroachment’ drive on ‘state land’ has been restarted at Malik market in Jammu on Saturday, a week after stone-pelting and protests against the drive were reported from the area.
Amid tight security, the authorities used three JCBs (earthmovers) to demolish a car showroom at the market, said an official.
He said the drive is being conducted under strict security arrangements and traffic movement was also diverted.
Seven people were detained by the police following the clashes.
Earlier, Kashmir unionists also asked the LG government for clarity over the Eviction/Demolition/Anti-enroachment drives on 'State Land.'
