“Yasin Malik said to his mother I made deal with Allah and His Prophet (PBUH), pray for me. He said I will remain on hunger strike as long as I am alive,” his family said.

Currently, Malik is jailed for life term in funding terrorism case, he was convicted on May 19 this year by an NIA (National Investigation Agency) court during the hearing he told the court that he did not contest the charges brought against him.

Earlier, he requested court for physical appearance in two cases pertaining to kidnapping of Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of then Union home minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in 1989, and the killing of Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel.

He has alleged that his case is not being investigated properly and as a protest, he commenced his hunger strike on July 22.

On July 15 this year, Rubaiya Sayeed, the sister of Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, identified Malik in connection with her kidnapping by JKLF militants on December 8, 1989.

Malik was arrested shortly after the JKLF was banned in 2019.
