Srinagar: The wildlife department installed sensor-based cameras and a cage trap near Badamwari Park in Srinagar city on Tuesday evening following reports of a leopard being spotted by a ninth-grade student.
"We have not found any foot impressions, marks, faecal matter, or other evidence on the ground. However, as a precautionary measure, we have set up camera traps and cages to address the situation," confirmed a senior wildlife official.
The official confirmed that apart from the student's testimony, no other substantial evidence has been found indicating the presence or movement of the leopard in question.
Notably, after reports of a leopard sighting near In Badamwari Park on Monday evening, Srinagar police advised residents to remain indoors and avoid venturing out unnecessarily.
