Srinagar: BJP leader and Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Darakhshan Andrabi has announced against holding Eid prayers at Eidgah Srinagar due to the ‘ground’s subpar condition.’

Addressing media, Andrabi said that this year, it is not feasible to offer ‘Namaz E Eid’ at Eidgah Srinagar due to the poor condition of the ground.

“Efforts are underway to improve the ground’s condition, and Eid prayers will be held there in the near future,” she said.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, authorities have consistently prohibited Eid prayers in Eidgah, Srinagar, citing various reasons.

Last year, Andrabi announced that the prayers would not be held during the upcoming Eid, attributing the decision to inclement weather.
