Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia To Join BRICS

Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia are joining the BRICS (an acronym grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) very soon, according to the media reports.

Bilateral relations among BRICS states are mainly based on non-interference, equality, and mutual benefits. However, the existence of the BRICS grouping does not signify a formal or informal alliance as there are multiple economic, territorial, and political disputes among the five nations.

In an interview with Russia's Izvestia, Purnima Anand said that China, Russia and India discussed this subject during the 14th BRICS Summit, which was held online last month.

"All these countries have shown an interest in joining and are preparing to apply for membership. I think this is a good step because expansion is always perceived positively; this will clearly increase the influence of BRICS in the world," Anand said.

"All representatives of the core association are interested in expanding the organization, so it will be very soon,” she said.
