Srinagar: A 27-year-old youth died after getting stuck in a traffic jam in Srinagar's Sekidafar area while en route to SMHS (Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital) on Thursday.

Locals identified the deceased as Jahangir Ahmad (27), a resident of Narwara area.

According to locals, it took his family two hours to cover a distance of 1.2 kilometers, which is typically covered in 10 minutes.

“He had been suffering from neurological issues for the last couple of months, but his condition deteriorated this afternoon,” locals said.

“When his family members were shifting him to SMHS hospital, the vehicle got stuck in traffic jam in the Sekidafar area. Despite hectic efforts by the local police, the patient couldn't reach the hospital in time and died mid-way,” locals stated.

The local residents urged the authorities to address the traffic congestion in the city to prevent such incidents in the future.
