Hajin, April 29 — Three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were arrested on Tuesday in north Kashmir’s Hajin area, police said.
In a statement, Bandipora police said it had received specific information regarding the movement of some OGWs, with joint forces establishing a checkpoint at Shahgund Nursery.
During the naka checking, three suspected individuals who were coming from Khusarpora towards Shahgund tried to flee upon seeing the police party but were tactfully apprehended.
“Upon questioning, the individuals disclosed their identities as Shahzad Ahmad, son of Mohammad Khalil; Danish Ahmad Parray, son of Gh Mohammad Parray; and Ather Iqbal, son of Gh Mohammad Rafiqee — all residents of Hajin — and further confessed that they were working as OGWs for LeT,” the statement reads.
“Upon their personal search, two Chinese hand grenades, one 7.62 mm magazine, and 17 live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition were recovered from their possession.”
In this regard, police said a case under FIR number 33/2025, registered under sections 18, 23, and 39 of the UAPA and section 7/25 of the Arms Act, has been lodged at Police Station Hajin. Further investigation is underway.
