At least 19 students were killed and 27 others were wounded after a suicide bomber attacked an educational institution in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of the Afghan capital in western Kabul on Friday.
The area is predominantly home to Shia Muslims specifically the minority - Hazara community.
As per media reports, the students were preparing for university entrance exam at the Kaj education centre when a suicide bomber attacked at this educational centre and killed 19 persons most of them were female students.
No group has claimed responsibility of the attack so far but ISIS has intensified attacks against Shia Muslims and Taliban in Afghanistan since the Taliban took over power since August last year.
Moreover, the Dasht-e-Barchi area has witnessed some of the worst attacks in Afghanistan in recent years. In 2021, before the Taliban takeover, at least 85 people – mostly female students – were killed and about 300 others wounded when three bombs exploded near a school.
