Srinagar Police Arrest DSP Sheikh Aadil

Srinagar: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, identified as Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq (KPS), has been arrested by Srinagar police on a slew of charges.

As per sources, a team of Srinagar police on Tuesday searched the residence of DySp Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq (KPS) near BSNL exchange in Sanatnagar area of Srinagar.

During the search, various items, including documents and a laptop, along with other electronic devices, were seized, sources said.

The officer was also subjected to questioning in connection with an ongoing case. However, no details of the case were released.

He was formally arrested by Srinagar police on Thursday under FIR no 149 0f 2023 under sections  167, 193, 201, 210, 218, 221 of Indian penal Code and 7, 7 of corruption Act at police Station Nowgam and further investigation has been set into motion.

Section 167 IPC: Public servant framing an incorrect document with intent to cause injury - This section deals with situations where a public servant creates a false document with the intent to harm someone.

Section 193 IPC: False evidence - This section deals with providing false evidence or making false statements during legal proceedings.

Section 201 IPC: Causing disappearance of evidence of an offense, or giving false information to screen offender - This section pertains to actions taken to conceal evidence of a crime or providing false information to protect an offender.

Section 210 IPC: Committing an offense punishable with imprisonment for life or imprisonment - This section deals with situations where a person falsely accuses someone of a crime punishable by life imprisonment or other serious penalties.

Section 218 IPC: Public servant framing incorrect record or writing with intent to save person from punishment or property from forfeiture - This section pertains to public servants who create false records or documents to save a person from punishment or protect property from forfeiture.

Section 221 IPC: Intentional omission to apprehend on the part of a public servant bound to apprehend a person under sentence or lawfully committed - This section deals with situations where a public servant fails to apprehend a person who is under a lawful sentence or commitment.
