Jammu, Apr 1 — Omar Abdullah on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly that a Rs 46.60 crore Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) has been approved for Gulmarg to strengthen sanitation infrastructure.
The Chief Minister said the 2 MLD STP project is scheduled for execution during the 2026–27 financial year and is aimed at improving wastewater management in the tourist destination.
He added that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Solid Waste Treatment Plant is currently under preparation, indicating further expansion of waste management infrastructure in the area.
The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to improve sanitation systems and address environmental concerns in high-footfall tourist locations across Jammu and Kashmir.
