Srinagar: The residents of Rainawari area of Srinagar on Saturday staged a protest against Jal Shakti (Water) department for failing to provide water supply to them for the past one month.
The protesters, mostly women, gathered and blocked the main road near JLNM Hospital, bringing traffic to a standstill.
The protesting women sais that they have been without water supply for a month, and no one is paying attention to their plight.
"We approached the authorities numerous times, but nothing has been done, and we feel like we're being shuffled from one place to another," the residents alleged, while appealing authorities to address this issue.
It is pertinent to mention that several areas in Srinagar city have been facing severe drinking water shortage and the problem is not confined to Srinagar only but some other parts in rest of the Kashmir Valley also,
While there were reports of drinking water shortage from some parts earlier also, but forthe last several weeks, the problem has intensified.
The administration maintained that the prolonged heat wave and dry spell have caused the crises.
