Mid-night protests broke out at the Chandigarh University campus after the videos of around 60 girls taking baths in the hostel were leaked by a first-year MBA girl student who shared the video with a boy in Shimla, who again shared those videos on social media.

Hundreds of students started protesting on Saturday night demanding action against the accused after talks with the authorities failed. Several social media posts are claiming that the university authorities were trying to cover up the incident, reported Hindustan Times.

A few videos showing girls taking to ambulances also surfaced on social media who were allegedly trying to attempt suicide.

However, Police said they have found only one video of the accused herself and no suicide attempt or death has taken place.

Addressing a press conference, Mohali SSP Vivek Soni said that the viral video of a student being carried towards an ambulance suffered from an anxiety attack.

As per police, the accused girl student had allegedly made those videos and sent them to a boy in Shimla, who shared those on social media.

A case has been registered against the accused girl under Sections 354 c of IPC (Indian Penal Code) and IT (Information Technology) act at the Gharuan police post in Mohali.

Meanwhile, insiders claimed the accused was demanding money from the girls and made video to blackmail them.
