Srinagar: In a recent directive, the police have cautioned retired officers from suggesting the theory of an ambush in the Kokernag operation, emphasizing that the mission is launched on specific intelligence inputs.

Through an official statement posted on the social media platform x (formerly known as Twitter), the police stated, "Rtd Police/Army officers should avoid 'Ambush Hypothesis.' It is a specific input-based ops. Ops is in progress, and all 2-3 trapped terrorists will be neutralized: ADGP Kashmir."

The Kokernag operation has been clouded by speculation regarding a potential ambush. However, authorities stress that the operation's strategy relies on credible intelligence.

It is pertinent to mention that former Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid, contemplated the informant's role. It was this unknown figure who had tipped off the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the J&K Police about the potential hideout of Pakistani terrorists.

"This source was perhaps compromised," SP Vaid reflected somberly, "and they were ambushed."
