PM Modi Launches 5G Internet Service In India

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 5G services in India on Saturday at a telecom event in the capital, Delhi, and the 13 cities where 5G networks will be launched first include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.

5G is the next generation of mobile communication networks offering faster speeds and wider use cases than 4G. 
 
During the launch, Mr. Modi said that India had 25 crore internet connections back in 2014; a number that today stands now at 85 crores.
 
"More internet users are coming onboard from rural areas," he said. 
 
The PM experienced the use cases of 5G through Jio Glass and spent time understanding the indigenous development of end-to-end 5G technology by Jio, as per media reports.
 
Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, MoS Telecom Devusinh Chauhan, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, and RJIL Chairman Akash Ambani were also present during the event.
 
Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder, and chairman of Airtel also hosted on the stage and thanked the Prime Minister for his Digital India vision by saying that without that particular vision, the country would have suffered during the covid pandemic. 
 
Moreover, Mukesh Ambani said that Jio will bring 5G to the entire country, including rural areas by December 2023.
