Over 78,000 People Offer Friday Prayers At Jamia Mosque & Hazaratbal Shrine

Srinagar: Huge presence of devotees was witnessed on the first congregational Friday prayer of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan with authorities saying that 78,000 people offered prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta and Dargah Hazratbal shrine.

On the first Friday of Ramadan, people from different parts of the Valley reached Dargah Hazratbal shrine and Jamia Masjid to attend the Friday congregational prayers, reports said.

At Jamia Masjid Srinagar and Dargah Hazratbal, shrine; the religious clerics highlighted the teachings of Islam and also the importance of the holy month of Ramadan.

Notably, Waqf Board made special arrangements at Hazratbal shrine where tents have been established in the lawns so that devotes mustn’t face any hardships during rains or hot weather conditions.

Outside the shrine, local and non-local business establishments installed stalls, selling street food.

Meanwhile, Srinagar police in a tweet informed that the congregational prayers concluded peacefully and said that 18,000 people offered Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Nowhatta while 50,000 people attended prayers at Dargah Hazratbal.
