Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s District President in North Kashmir’s Kupwara, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone on Thursday visited noted Kashmiri Islamic scholar, founder and rector of Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah, Rehmatullah Mir Qasmi.

The visit comes a day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided at 18 different locations in eight districts of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with suspected ‘funding’ activities including the residence of Moulana Rehmatullah Qasmi who is the head of Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora, north Kashmir.

Later NIA arrested Mohammad Ameer Shamshi who is the Chairperson (Nizam-e-ala) of AHET Al Huda Educational Trust (AHET), in Rajouri over having an alleged association with the banned organisation of Jamaat-e-lslami (Jel).

However, In a statement NC’s Lone visited the Islamic seminary in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district and expressed solidarity with the noted scholar in view of the recent NIA raids on his residence.

“Intimidation of religious scholars is unjustified. Having a global standing, Qasmi sahib is known for his social service. A peacenik, his commitment towards communal harmony and social work remains unparalleled,” he added.
