Doda, Feb 10 — Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Chenab Valley district of Doda have registered a case and detained a man after a video allegedly showing him using the Indian national flag to clean a window went viral on social media.

An official said the video features Farooq Ahmed, a resident of the Nagri area in Doda, purportedly wiping the glass window of his house with the tricolour.

“Prima facie, the act attracts provisions of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971,” a police official said.

Acting on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, police registered FIR No. 30/2026 at Doda police station and detained the accused for questioning, officials said.

“Further investigation is underway and legal action will be taken strictly as per law,” the official added.
