Srinagar: The body of a man that was found in river Jhelum near Safa Kadal has been identified by officials.
An official identified the deceased as Basharat Ahmad Bhat a resident of the Naidkadal locality of Khanyar.
"Basharat was missing and a report was also filed at Khanyar police station in this regard, he said.
The body was recovered from the river Jhelum today morning and was taken to SMHS for medico-legal formalities.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and the body will be handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
