Kashmir Police Arrest Six, Seize Over 5 kg Cannabis Resin

Interceptions at checkpoints in Anantnag and Budgam lead to arrests and recovery of large quantities of cannabis resin.

Anantnag/Budgam, Jan 17 — Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, J&K Police arrested six individuals in separate operations across Anantnag and Budgam, recovering over 5 kilograms of cannabis resin.

In Anantnag, a police team at Bangidar Bridge intercepted Faizan Ahmad Bhat, recovering about 438 grams of cannabis resin in powder and stick form. Later, at Chattergul, police apprehended Mehboob Gojjer and Rafiq Ahmad Gojjer, seizing approximately 1.15 kilograms of cannabis resin.

In Budgam, police patrolling at Batpora Crossing detained Rouf Ahmed Hajam, recovering over 2 kilograms of cannabis resin in powder form. Another team at Bonizanigam apprehended Irfan Ahmad Mir and Owais Ahmad Bhat, seizing about 2.185 kilograms of cannabis resin.

Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing.

A police spokesperson said, “We remain committed to protecting society from the menace of drugs through sustained enforcement and preventive measures.”
