Srinagar: Scores of Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) job aspirants and other students protested in Press Enclave on Wednesday against the purported grant of a contract to APTECH Ltd. for conducting examinations and demanded that the LG administration must investigate why papers leaked and scam issues only occur in Kashmir.

“All blacklisted companies should be banned in Jammu and Kashmir, until action is taken against these blacklisted companies, no student will sit for any competitive exams,” the protestors said.

The protesters pointed out that APTECH Ltd. has been involved in numerous scams in other parts of the country including in Rajasthan, Leh, Ambala, and others.

“Many newspapers have already reported these scams, nothing significant is being done to allay the apprehensions of the job aspirants,” they said.

The protesters demanded that the Lieutenant Governor administration should rise to the occasion and take necessary measures for the larger benefit of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Amid the protest, national conference’s Omar Abdullah also sought to cancel the contract.

Taking to the microblogging site Twitter, Omar Abdullah wrote; "This contract must immediately be canceled. What is the point of black listing companies if they are going to be awarded plum contracts."

"This contract is even more dangerous because it puts at risk the future of scores of aspirants who rely on JKSSRB to conduct recruitment exams", reads the tweet.

"I condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the use of force & lathi charge against students & JKSSRB aspirants. These youngsters were exercising their democratic right to protest against the recent decision to engage a blacklisted firm #Aptech by JKSSRB,” the tweet added.
