Israel forces shot dead a 15-year-old Palestinian girl and injured a 26-year-old Anas Hassouneh who was also arrested in the shooting in the Beitunia town near Ramallah, occupied West Bank.

The fresh killing has taken the Palestinian death toll to 198 since the beginning of 2022 year.

The slain teen was going to celebrate her 16th birthday tomorrow and was shot in the head during a raid in the town of Beitunia, Ramallah, Wafa news agency reported.

Witnesses said the car was moving when they found Israeli troopers around them from many sides and opposite them, one started shooting without any notice.

In a statement, Israel 'defense' said that the army spotted a suspicious vehicle accelerating towards them during an operation, as per Israeli media.

However, surveillance video which went viral on social media indicated the car slowly moving ahead before being fired stationed nearby.

Israel raids areas of the west bank, and arrests Palestinians on daily basis, as part of an attempt to crack down on armed groups operating in the Palestinian territory.

In 2022 only, Israel killed 197 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and besieged Gaza Strip, including 43 children, Al Jazeera reported.

According to the United Nations, the number of Palestinians killed by Israel in the occupied West Bank this year is the highest it has been in 16 years.

Observers said these incidents show how easy it is for Israel to shoot and kill Palestinians just for suspecting they are going to do something because the instructions from the political and defense allow the shoot-and-kill policy.

It is pertinent to mention that Israel continues to demolish houses and expand Israel settlements in the Palestinian territories since its foundation.
