The International Federation of Journalists will be a partner in a lawsuit against Israel at the International Criminal Court (ICC) following the murder of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by an Israeli troops, Palestinian News Agency Wafa reported.

The IFJ is the world's largest organisation of journalists and represents 600,000 media professionals from 187 trade unions and associations in more than 140 countries, according to their website.

Established in 1926, the IFJ is the organisation that speaks for journalists within the United Nations system and within the international trade union movement.

Memeber of the Federation's executive board Ali Youssef said Palestinian journalists are real fighters who face agression on a daily basis in field and outside field for the work and stories they tell.

He added that the IFJ has succeeded in exposing Israel's acts of aggression against media professionals and the Palestinian people.

Moreover, a video message by Nasser Abu Bakr, President of the Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate, urged Prosecutor Khan to hold Israel accountable.

"Fifty Palestinian journalists have been killed since 2000 alone," he stated.

"Seven thousand crimes against Palestinian journalists have been documented in the region," he added.
