The development came after the party appointed Vikar Rasool Wani as the party’s J&K chief and senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad the head of the campaign committee while accepting the resignation of Ghulam Ahmed Mir from the post of president.

As per reports, the veteran Congress leader Azad has resigned from all party posts including the primary membership.

He has sent his resignation letter to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi days after he resigned from the organizational post of Jammu and Kashmir citing health issues.

However, in his resignation letter, Azad has cited several issues including the organizational election process and blamed Rahul Gandhi for the fall of Congress in India.

“Unfortunately after the entry of Mr.Rahul Gandhi into politics and particularly after January, 2013, when he was made vice-president by you (Sonia Gandhi), the entire consultative mechanism which existed earlier was demolished by him,” Azad wrote in the letter.

“All senior and experienced leaders were sidelined and new coterie of inexperienced sycophants started running the affairs of the party,” he wrote further.

As the Congress is geared up to launch the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’; conceived in May this year with the intention of campaigning from the farthest ends of the country – from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu in the south to Kashmir in the North – on September 7’ Azad wrote In his resignation letter that the party should launch a ‘Congress Jodo Yatra’ before launching a ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.
