Clashes In Budgam After Army ‘Allegedly’ Burns Poster Of Qasim Soleimani

Budgam: Protests, Clashes erupted in central’s Kashmir’s Budgam (Shia Muslim Majority) district ‘allegedly’ after some Army men barged into a residential house and burnt the picture of Iran’s military leader Qasim Solemani.

Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani was Iran's most powerful military commander and killed by a US air strike in 2020 in Iraq.

Reportedly, Locals have staged a protest against the Army for allegedly setting the picture of Qasim Solemani ablaze.

"We will continue to protest till there is an apology from the involved army men," a local protestor said.

A Police official from the magma area said that some People of village Mabuchan, Magam held protest at Magam main chowk alleging that a party of security forces while on patrol in the village misbehaved with locals of the village.

“Senior police and civil officers visited the spot and talked to locals. Traffic has been restored and situation is under control,” he said, adding that the officers assured locals that allegations are being inquired into and necessary action if required, shall be taken accordingly.

When the military commander Qasim was assassinated, Shias across the world mourned in processions, he was seen as the right hand of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenai who is revered among Shia Muslims globally.
