Anantnag: A ‘Kalash’ from Ayodhya’s (Uttar Pradesh) Ram Janmabhoomi was installed in the Martand Sun Temple in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

The Kalash was brought to the Anantnag district by a special procession ‘Kalash Yatra’ and installed at the Martand Sun Temple, one of the holiest sites of pilgrimage for Kashmiri Pandits in the Anantnag district.

The Kalash is a sacred pot used in Hindu rituals and ceremonies, symbolizing purity, abundance, and the divine presence.

The Martand temple is believed to have been built by King Lalitaditya Muktapida of the Karkota Dynasty in the 8th century. Today, only the ruins of the Martand Sun Temple remain.

However, the grandeur can still be glimpsed in the impressive remnants, including the colonnaded structure, the central sanctuary, and various carved panels.
