Chandigarh: Punjab Police said that the reports of the arrest of Amritpal Singh are untrue as he managed to escape the police's dragnet on a motorcycle.
Moreover, 78 members of his organization, Waris Punjab De have been arrested while many of his family members including his father have been detained for questioning.
As per sources in Punjab Police, his father has been asked to motivate Amritpal Singh to surrender.
He is still on the run from the Punjab police and a massive search is on to trace him, Police said.
Amritpal Singh's close aide Daljeet Singh Kalsi has also been arrested from Haryana's Gurgaon.
On Saturday, when reports of Amritpal Singh's arrest came forth, protests were reported in Mohali.
The internet suspension may be extended as of now.
Heavy deployment of troops was deployed outside Amritpal Singh's village, Jallupur Khaira, in Amritsar as well while Police urged citizens to maintain peace and not share any doctored videos.
Official sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had discussed the plan to arrest Amritpal Singh with Home Minister Amit in a meeting on March 2.
