Srinagar, Apr 9 — Traffic authorities announced a five-day closure of a key stretch between Ali-Jan Road and Aali Masjid to facilitate ongoing sewerage works, officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Ajaz Ahmad Bhat said one lane on the route will remain shut during the period, making two-way movement impossible.
“The UED department is digging the road from Ali-Jan road to Aali Masjid to lay a new sewerage pipe. During this period, two-way traffic will not be possible on that section,” Bhat said.
He said the diversion plan will come into effect from Thursday, with vehicles moving from Karan Nagar towards Ali-Jan road being rerouted via Soura.
“They will have to take a right from Aali Masjid towards Hawal,” he said, adding that traffic from Soura will not face any restrictions.
“Vehicles moving from Ali-Jan road will also need to take a right turn towards Hawal,” Bhat added.
The officer urged commuters to follow the diversion plan and drive cautiously to ensure smooth traffic movement and safety during the execution of the project.
