Srinagar, Jan 24 — The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension of the inter-cadre deputation of Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo, IAS, allowing him to continue his posting in Jammu and Kashmir beyond February 17, 2026.
According to an official order, Labroo’s deputation from the Tripura cadre to the AGMUT cadre has been extended “for a further period of one year beyond 17.02.2026,” in accordance with service rules governing inter-cadre deputation of All India Services officers.
“The competent authority has approved the extension of the inter-cadre deputation tenure,” the order said.
Labroo, a 2018-batch IAS officer of the Tripura cadre, is presently serving in Jammu and Kashmir on inter-cadre deputation. The ACC’s approval enables him to continue his assignment under the AGMUT cadre for the extended tenure.
During his service in Jammu and Kashmir, Labroo has held several key positions, including Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Director Information in the Department of Public Relations, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Srinagar. He is also the first Kashmiri Pandit to have served as Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.
Following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service framework was reorganised under the AGMUT cadre, enabling officers to be posted and transferred across the Union Territories in line with revised administrative rules.
