Jammu, Feb 4 — The National Conference-led government on Wednesday told the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly that 6,000 transit accommodation units have been sanctioned across 20 locations in the Kashmir Valley for Kashmiri migrant employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s Package.
Of these, 4,096 units have been completed as of December 31, 2025 — around 68 per cent of the total — the House was informed.
The government said the housing is being developed as permanent residential complexes under PMDP-2015, not temporary transit camps. It also made clear that there is no proposal at present to set up any additional migrant accommodation camps in the Valley.
Breaking up the figures district-wise, the government said North Kashmir has 1,368 sanctioned units, with 1,104 already completed at sites such as Odina, Fatehpora, Kulangam and Natnoosa.
In Central Kashmir, 1,608 units were approved, of which 1,400 have been completed at locations including Kakanmaran, Sheikhpora, Babadaryadin, Wandhama and Zewan.
South Kashmir accounts for the largest share, with 3,024 sanctioned units. So far, 1,592 have been completed at sites such as Machbawan, Ranbirpora, Shangus, Vessu, Chowgam, Mirhama, Lethpora and Allowpora.
The government said the housing complexes are being built with civic amenities and security arrangements to ensure safe and dignified living conditions for migrant employees.
