New Delhi, May 4 — Amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday to discuss possible responses and assess the security situation.

This high-level meeting came a day after the Prime Minister was briefed by Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi on maritime security, particularly developments in the Arabian Sea.

Sources said both interactions were part of a broader review of strategic options available to New Delhi in light of the Pahalgam attack.

In 2019, the Indian Air Force launched airstrikes in Balakot, Pakistan, days after the Pulwama attack.

India signed a defence agreement with France barely a week after the Pahalgam attack, securing 26 Rafale Marine fighter jets to strengthen the Indian Navy’s combat readiness. These jets will operate alongside the 36 Rafales already inducted into the Air Force.

International voices have urged restraint. In a recent Fox News interview, U.S. Vice-President JD Vance said, “We hope that India responds to this attack in a way that doesn’t lead to a broader regional conflict.”

He also called on Islamabad to cooperate fully: “Frankly, we also hope that Pakistan, to the extent it is responsible, cooperates with India.”
