Peaceful protests erupted in India’s Mohali over the blasphemous remarks by two suspended BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) leaders against the last Islamic prophet.

“Such attacks have been happening daily, India is a secular country and such happenings have maligned our country in the international community,” protestors said.

“We demand arrest of both of the leaders and rejection of such ideology,” they said.

The protest was held under the banner of the Muslim Welfare Association, Punjab.

The association issued a letter to submit to the authorities demanding the arrest of the former BJP leaders.

Muslims in this country are being targeted with every hate tool; banning hijabs, attacking halal food, lynching, hate speeches, love jihad, and many other aspects, Mohammad Shafi, a local resident told The Himalayan Post.

Article 25 of the Indian constitution gives the right to every citizen to practice and profess their religion but an odd environment is created against Muslims, such unending attacks should end, he said.

As per sources, SDM Mohali has reached the spot.
