Srinagar: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, while campaigning for party candidate Aga Ruhullah Mehdi in Panzinara on the outskirts of Srinagar city, mentioned the EVM 'discrepancy' and warned voters to be vigilant during the voting process.

Addressing an election rally on Sunday, he stated, 'It is important for all voters to know that the EVM is a theft machine. When you go to the EVM booth on polling day, everyone must individually check the LED lights on it, and it must beep after the vote is cast.'

“If there is no light on the machine, you should come out and ask the election staff about it," he said.

Abdullah urged voters to ensure that the VVPAT slips display the same election symbol they voted for.

"After you cast your vote, there will be a VVPAT slip. You should check whether the symbol on the slip is the same as the one you have voted for," he said.

"Today, the fight is not about roads and electricity. The fight is to safeguard our rights," he added.
