Srinagar: National Conference is poised to nominate Omar Abdullah for the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, while Mian Altaf is anticipated to represent the party in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat, sources said.

According to sources, Omar Abdullah and Mian Altaf are in the final stages of selection for the Srinagar and Anantnag-Rajouri segments, respectively.

The potential candidates for the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat include former minister Mir Saifullah, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, or Aga Ruhullah.

Omar Abdullah, the National Conference vice-president and former Chief Minister, recently stated that the party will unveil its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections post Eid.

The Srinagar constituency incorporates eight seats in Srinagar district, three in Budgam, two in Ganderbal, four in Pulwama, and one in Shopian.

The Anantnag-Rajouri seat comprises seven segments in Anantnag district, three in Kulgam, one in Shopian district, four in Rajouri, and three in Poonch.

Previous reports hinted at the possibility of the former Chief Minister and President of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party vying for this seat.

Additionally, Mehbooba Mufti, President of the Peoples Democratic Party, is considering contesting from this segment.

The electoral contest in the Baramulla segment will likely be between the traditional rivals, the National Conference and the Peoples Conference. This segment spans across seven seats in Baramulla, six in Kupwara, three in Bandipora, and two in Budgam district.
